Position Summary

The Propulsion Engineer will work within a small team of engineers and entrepreneurs on the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the GO1 Rocket Vehicle. Specific emphasis will be placed on design, manufacture, integration and test of pressurized structures, cryogenic systems, propellant feed systems, and pressurization systems be used in near-term flight test programs. The successful candidate must be experienced in the design of flight hardware with knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and dynamic environments. The position will span a broad range of product life cycle development from concept development to flight test of prototype hardware to manufacturing and commercial operations. Interactions with external suppliers and customers will require the engineer to have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, analysis, manufacture, integration and test of launch vehicle pressure vessels
  • Design, analysis, manufacture, integration and test of propulsion system components including propellant feedlines, valves, insulation, and seals
  • Support mechanical, electrical, and fluid integration of vehicle propulsion subsystems including liquid rocket engine, propellant tanks, and pressurization systems
  • Develop and execute test procedures for verification and validation of systems and components including qualification and acceptance testing

 

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in AE, ME, or similar
  • Experience in lightweight pressure vessel design, analysis, manufacturing, integration, and qualification
  • Experience in liquid rocket engine or propulsive stage testing
  • Fundamental understanding of dynamic environments including shock, vibration, and acoustic loads
  • Proficiency in computer aided design tools such as Solid Edge, Unigraphics NX, Solid Works, CATIA, and/or PTC Creo
  • Proficiency in finite element modeling and optimization including tools such as ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN, and/or Abaqus
  • Proficiency in computational modeling of internal flows utilizing tools such as OpenFOAM, Star-CCM+, and/or ANSYS-Fluent
  • Proficiency with fluid network modeling including tools such as GFSSP
  • Ability and willingness to succeed in an intellectually challenging, fast-paced, commercially-driven product development environment
  • Comfortable working in open, collaborative environments
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

The position will span a broad range of product life cycle development from concept development to flight test of prototype hardware to manufacturing and commercial operations. Interactions with external suppliers and customers will require the engineer to have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead creation and management of requirements and specifications for electrical power and avionics subsystems
  • Design and analysis of analog and digital circuits for electrical power, communications, and command & data handling subsystems
  • Lead integration of in-house and vendor electrical power, avionics and electromechanical components
  • Development, implementation, and documentation of verification & validation plans, test procedures and test automation processes
  • Lead FMECA-based system design and analysis relevant to avionics hardware
  • Lead electrical power and avionics ground and flight test operations

 

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar

Position Summary

The Lead Mission Manager will work within a small team of engineers and entrepreneurs on the licensing, certification, and operations of the GO1 launch system. Specific emphasis will be placed on mission analysis, licensing, certification, safety, and operations for near-term flight test programs. The successful candidate must be experienced in the multiple R&D and operational flight programs, FAA licensing regimes, and DoD flight vehicle certification. Interactions with external agencies and customers will require the engineer to have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop an intimate knowledge of GO1 system and subsystems including capabilities, performance, and interfaces
  • Lead FAA/AST launch license application preparation, submission, and review support
  • Lead DoD launch vehicle certification efforts in support of flight test applications
  • Lead system-level failure modes, effects, and cause analysis (FMECA)
  • Lead company-wide safety process development, implementation, and maintenance
  • Foster and manage customer relationships including requirements definition for payload, mission, and operations; schedule management; and support of technical interchanges
  • Manage mission-specific interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Conduct mission-specific analysis relevant to licensing, certification, payload support and operations

 

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or similar
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of launch vehicle and aircraft design and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and management customer representatives
  • Experience with FAA launch licensing including environmental assessment, Ec analysis, system safety analysis, aircraft hazard area, mission rules, contingency plans, and/or operational requirements
  • Experience developing and implementing safety processes for ground and flight testing operations.

The successful candidate must be experienced in aerospace systems engineering practices, tools, implementation and leadership. The position will span a broad range of product life cycle development from concept development to flight test of prototype hardware to manufacturing and commercial operations. Interactions with external suppliers and customers will require the engineer to have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of systems engineering practices, processes, and tools within the scope of requirements management, configuration control, and risk management
  • Manage system-level budgets including mass, power/energy, link, and fluids, including contingencies and margins
  • Manage system-level performance estimates
  • Lead multidisciplinary trade study, sensitivity, and optimization efforts at the system level to inform design, manufacturing, and operations decisions for launch vehicle and hypersonic systems
  • Manage program cost and schedule from planning and budgeting through execution and reporting

 

Qualifications

  • Support full software product lifecycle development including requirements definition, design, construction, integration, testing, debugging, deployment, and maintenance
  • Design, development, and testing of software for embedded systems including FPGAs, and microcontrollers.
  • Development, implementation, and integration of communication protocols (Ethernet, Mil-Std 1553, ARINC-429, and serial (RS-232|422|423|485))
  • Definition and management of interfaces across both in-house and third-party software elements
  • Development, implementation, and documentation of verification & validation plans, test procedures and test automation processes including software-in-the-loop (SITL), hardware-in-the-loop (HITL), and flight test data

 

Qualifications
